A bunch of b-list actors given the chance to improvise a scene. That's why it's all so stilted and weird. It's like they thought they were in fucking Goodfellas. It's cringey as fuck.

Cause they were traumatised by war n sheeit.
Awful scene.
I enjoyed the movie but what was the point of this scene? It felt completely unnecessary

Shia wanted an oscar.

Because they had fury

No idea but it felt compelling. The madness of trying to have (what really looks like) a peaceful family dinner during the middle of what was happening. Brad Pitt easily fits the part of a stern boomer-era father figure, not dissimilar to his role in the tree of life.
I wouldnt say rape was happening though the scene as a whole may have represented the imperialistic concept of "rape and pillage", something that doesn't always occur violently despite using might as a means to achieve such blah blah blah and so forth

Probably that at some point the Americans did some not so great stuff to the people living in occupied territory and the narrative of the Americans always being the good guys who never did anything wrong isn't 100% accurate
I was very high the first time I watched this movie and found this scene to be hilarious
Anybody touches the girl gets their teeth kicked in

I read somewhere that hundreds of thousands of French women were raped by American soldiers, and the French were America's allies.
