I've just had enough of listening to normies praise this smarmy arsed derivative second rate hack job of a director. All his films are utterly fucking retarded to the nth degree and simply involve doing a pastiche of actual good films. People call it a "homage" but the truth is once you reach Tarantinos level of "homage" you are simply engaging in a full blown rip off.

>b-b-but muh dialogue anon
NO! the "royale with cheese" moment from pulp fiction is a prime example of quipily delivered bullshit drivel lines with random ass topics that make the normies cream from feeling like a real life psuedo-intellectual film connoisseur
>b-b-b-but technically well made anon...
NO! he's just ripped everything he does from people with actual talent. his contribution to the advancement of cinema is nil, hell he's made it go backwards!

THIS MAN FUCKING SUCKS

I don't hate his movies or work, I genuinely think the guy has his style and signature on making stuff.
What I do find retarded is his fanbase though.
It's as autistic and cringeworthy as rick and morty, got, twin peaks and kubrick ones.
Dunno if I made my point clear, most of this stuff can be fun, watchable, even good sometimes, but when faggots go full retard mode acting like it's the greatest thing humanity ever produced in more than 15000 years oh history... that's something worth hating.
TLDR: yeah, Tarantino fanboys and normie fanboys are faggots.

>>87313916
I know this is probably bait, but I know there are wankers that are actually like this, so I'll try to let you know why I enjoyed the film and hopefully you'll at least walk away with a bit of an understanding:

It had nothing to do with "dead nigger storage" or any of the "edgier" lines, it was the cool persona. Everyone had their own different persona of cool. He skips making them complete humans to make them cool aspects of different humans. The hard gangster bible quoter - his quotes were relevant and great to hear in the moment. Two high assholes 50s dancing with serious looks on their faces and giving us some sex to an otherwise sexless era. The soldier that has no manners around children, but at least he's honest. The boxer on the motorcycle. The black guy that walks into a very openly racist shop with guns despite knowing what they are.

These are all examples of cool. They do not make a full person, nowhere close, but they don't need to. Resonating with these people on an empathetic level was never the point. You were supposed to walk away seeing the different faces of cool that only cinema can bring.

The problem with Tarantino is only that now we are getting familiar with his style, his tropes, the things he's been studying for and mimicking for years. It's not so fun watching events unfold anymore now that we know there is absolutely going to be a Mexican standoff, ponderous one sided dialogues, some kind of revenge plot, gratuitous violence, etc. Hateful eight was interesting but felt like it was 50% just shit Tarantino feels obliged to do.
>>
OP, he's the 90's hipster "indie" version of Spielberg; a sperg who's only knowledge of the world comes from movies and that's reflected in the types of films they make.

Spielberg likes to think of himself as an artist but the truth is that he's nothing more that a craftsman who takes even the most complex issues/characters (Schindler's List/Munich) and reduces them to simple ideas and so that his feeble mind can comprehend them. But he'll never make a holocaust drama feel as real as The Pianist nor a political thriller such as The Battle of Algiers.

QT is even worse in that he's incapable of doing anything that comes near to reality and has no variety to his work. It's all allusions to exploitation and pop culture references. He makes race hate films like Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained so that he can ride the fence of saying what he really feels about Jews and Blacks but at the same time covers for it by letting the protagonists get violent revenge against their oppressors.

He also never deals with relationships or sex because he's a grotesque mongoloid who never got laid before becoming a Director without paying for it. So he's an autistic who doesn't and will never understand human being which is why his movies are cartoons.

Don't get me wrong, Pulp Fiction/Kill Bill Vol. 1 and IB are masterpiece's and I love them, PF being the most iconic movie of the 90's, but they're simple entertainment with no deeper meaning!!!FACT!!! https://youtu.be/GxLR_VaWkMM

Scorsese is the difference between someone who is INFLUENCED by something and someone like QT or Brian DePalma (the latter is admittedly my favorite Director) who just outright rips shit off. Neither of those two Directors will ever do anything as profound as Taxi Driver or Raging Bull!!!FACT!!!
>>
>>87314655
PTA is even fucking worse than QT. Every movie PTA makes is meant to be a version of someone else's film, for example....

Hard Eight = Sidney Lumet
Boogie Nights = Martin Scorsese
Magnolia = Robert Altman
Punch Drunk Love = Hal Ashby
There Will Be Blood = Terrence Malick
Inherent Vice = Altman again and obviously meant to be his own The Long Goodbye which was also about a shambling private detective.

No, QT has PF/KB1/IB and although I really enjoy Boogie Nights it has the same problem as all of PTA's movies; his characters fall into two categories -the cool calm sage or the blithering idiot with no in between!!!FACT!!!

Come up with an actual argument Tarantino fag. I've put up several and all you can do to defend your plebeian tastes is try to seem more grown up than me. Did you ever consider that liking rehashed parts of good movies with a heavy dose of pointless ultraviolence and bad language means you have the taste of a 12 year old?
>>
>>87316061
>Explain Kill Bill then.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 is a near masterpiece. The problem is that the Weinstein Jews got greedy and wanted two movies while that gargoyle didn't want to cut anything. If you edited a shit load out of Vol. 2 and merged it with the first movie you'd have a great film. I wish QT had fucked with audiences and at the end of KB1 and went meta; during the credits showed an editor working on the final shot and saying that part 2 was never made because the Director died while jerking off in Tokyo to hentai tentacle porn just before the films release and as a result. Subvert expectations and don't provide an ending to the story because there was soo much build up that the "Five Finger Exploding Heart technique" was shit and anti-climactic!!!FACT!!!
>>
>>87316492
>Jackie Brown

QT only made that shit because he was beholden to Elmore Leonard whose novels are filled with characters talking about random shit. The problem with his books is that they're meandering and why most of the movies based on them sucked with Out of Sight>Get Shorty>Jackie Brown being the best although that's faint praise!!!FACT!!!
>>
>>87321893
Jackie Brown is a masterpiece, it's just less of a Tarantino masterpiece. Reservoir>JB>etc>the exploitation knockoffs kill bill/inglourious/django with deathproof being the better of them, probably.
>>
>>87321076
True enough but I think it was also the era (1970's) that helped. Scorsese couldn't nor wouldn't make movies like that today despite having all the resources to do so. So he makes big budget glossy flicks to keep his bank account flush. Can't hate him for it though as Tax Driver/Raging Bull/Goodfellas has earned him his legacy. I also FUCKING LOVED The Wolf of Wall Street as it felt like "don't give a fuck" Scorsese!!!FACT!!!

Okay, anon !! QT is hyper mashed up mediums director. The point you made as the rip off isn't that obvious compare to some that came out recently, contains the sequence after sequence just looke a like its preceders. On the 2nd to pinpoint this, the filmmaking itself go more than 100 years of history. That makes it hard for the originality to come out. They all have the tendency to sounds & look alike. A about another complain on the goons having chitchat is that you need to know the difference between a character explaining the plot & a character showing inner character through the conversation. Keep those in your mind & go over his early efforts especially. The really are marvelously done, updating what director like Martin Scorsese did in the past.

Yeah but the structure made it feel revolutionary at the time. Maybe you don't know or remember but in the early 90's cinema was stagnating with nothing but big budget shit from the major studios. PF was a low budget movie that embraced it's R-rating, right when political correctness was starting to take hold, and blew peoples minds by essentially bringing Vincent Vega back from the dead just by changing the order that the stories were told. It made people say to themselves "WOAH, you can do that with movies?!?". I'm serious that it blew the doors off and made it feel like anything was possible. Without PF there is no Trainspotting, no Boogie Nights, no Fight Club etc... It's one of the reasons why 1999-2000 was a great time for movies with the usual influx of big budget popcorn and a ton of films that took chances like Being John Malcovitch, Fight Club, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Matrix, American Psycho, Requiem for a Dream, The Blair With Project, The Sixth Sense etc...

Of course it all came to an end but if you want a really great education on the subject, read Peter Biskind's 'Down and Dirty Pictures' that details the 90's "indie" scene which was dominated by Miramax, the Sundance film festival and New Line Cinema to a lesser extent. A GREAT book and a close second to his masterpiece 'Easy Riders, Raging Bulls' which is my favorite book of all time and details how the 1970's became the greatest era in north America cinema history and how it ended. Oh and if you want a good overview of cinema from its inception to the era when that book starts, go and by the 7 hour TCM doc "Moguls and Movie Stars" which is a fantastic!!!FACT!!!
>>
>>87322828
That is a silly comment, in the late-80s/early-90s PG13 wasn't even solidified. By the time pulp fiction released shit like trainspotting and boogie nights were already in production. I'm not gonna deny Miramax started a big move towards the indie-er pictures but they weren't alone.

I dunno why they shifted to lower budget films but I would imagine spielberg and the 80s stars were just asking for too much after their successes.

>Jackie Brown is a masterpiece

I think it's self indulgent and boring. It's a 2.5 hour movie that should have been 90 minutes. Felt like QT was trying too hard to bring another actors career back from the dead which is ironic since Pam Grier has a supporting role in Mars Attacks the year before and undercut the whole endeavor.

To be fair, how do you follow up Pulp Fiction? That movie captured the zeitgeist of the time like no other film of that decade. Shifting down gear wasn't a bad idea but it would have been better if he could have subverted expectations and delivered something like LA Confidential which was arguably the best film of 1997

It's funny that Rum Punch was the only novel he ever adapted. Seems Directors like QT and Kevin Smith have a bit of pretentiousness about them in that they don't like adapting other peoples work because it makes them feel less like an "artist". BULLSHIT!!! Scorsese, Cronenberg etc... have all made great movies based on material from other sources.

I mention this because I remember thinking back in the late 90's about how desperately I wanted QT to adapt Shaft Among the Jews which was one of the Shaft novels by Ernest Tidyman that was never made into a movie.

He should have did that, set it in the 70's and released it in 2000 instead of that fuck awful remake!!!FACT!!!

Pulp Fiction was shifting down from reservoir dogs. Tarantino wrote good stuff when he wasn't just taking it from 70s movies instead. His portion of Four Rooms is some of his best work, the intro to rodriguez' dusk til dawn? Masterful.

Jackie Brown was Tarantino sitting back and actually looking at his style. The soundtrack and how it plays out through the film, which takes have that extra shot of just sitting still and not being spastic ADD shit. That was refinement of what he tried to do in pulp fiction. He had his IDEAL cast, not because they were his childhood favorites or huge names but because they fit perfectly. It was just a coming together of what tarantino is good at in a style he knows better than anyone and without having to one-up his own shit or dumb-down his writing to reach exploitation levels.

>By the time pulp fiction released shit like trainspotting and boogie nights were already in production.

You know nothing and I'll explain why.

Pulp Fiction began shooting in sept 1993. It was shown at the Canne film festival in May of 1994 and released in Oct of that year.

Trainspotting didn't start shooting until mid-1995. Boogie Nights wasn't shot until late 1996-early 1997.

So, your version of "reality" is wrong, furthermore, this comment you made...

> in the late-80s/early-90s PG13 wasn't even solidified

Shows just how fucking little you know and understand even less. The PG-13 rating was implemented in 1984 with Red Dawn being the first film to have it.

Finally, this statement you made...

>I dunno why they shifted to lower budget films but I would imagine spielberg and the 80s stars were just asking for too much after their successes.

Proves that you're not a total fucking retard, so bravo, I golf clap in your general direction!!!FACT!!!

>>
>>87324210
I disagree. It felt self conscious and I've read that he was hesitant to make another movie after PF because of its acclaim. Jackie Brown doesn't feel organic, it seems like QT trying to down shift while still being self-indulgent. Kill Bill Vol. 1 feels like the movie that he should have made after PF because it arguably tops it!!!FACT!!!

*sigh* PULP FICTION WAS RELEASED IN OCT OF 1994 AND PRE-PRODUCTION OF TRAINSPOTTING WOULDN'T HAVE LASTED FROM BEFORE THAT TIME TO MID 1995 WHEN IT STARTED SHOOTING!!! A LOW BUDGET MOVIE LIKE TRAINSPOTTING DOESN'T HAVE TEN FUCKING MONTHS OF PRE-PRODUCTIN YOU FUCKING KNOB!!!

ALSO....

>Not standardized til into the 90s

IT WAS IMPLIMENTED AND PUT ON MOVIES STARTING IN 1984 WITH RED DAWN, AND EVERY MOVIE IT WAS GRANTED TO FROM THERE ON OUT FOR FUCK SAKES, HOW MUCH MORE FUCKING CLEAR DO I HAVE TO BE YOU BLITHERING CUNT?!? CAN'T WAIT UNTIL SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW AND YOU WORTHLESS CUMSTAINS AREN'T HERE TO SHITPOST, FUCKING FAGGOT!!!FACT!!!
>>
>>87324683
Well yeah QT was CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED to go jackie brown but he still got his pick of project. And yeah I can see self-indulgent coming from exactly the same things I like about it, the refinement and the precision in some parts of it might come off that way.

I think Kill Bill was just awful. It just flushed all the successes he had down the toilet and moved into gratuitous. Jackie Brown was minimal-tarantino in a very tarantino genre that he had proven himself in. Kill Bill is just letting the fucker off the chain, where he's already decided he wants to be Rodriguez when he grows up and just make completely outlandish stuff that hit his nostalgia buttons. I think Deathproof is really his best work in that style, too. Even though it's almost universally hated the women&cars&revenge sort of film is definitely right up his alley and the over the top parts are interspersed with the really slow dialogue-heavy buildup that made a lot of his older films work well.

>>87324909
Preproduction takes like 2-3 years on most projects. The ratings stuff were again completely arbitrary and nonsensical until the mid-90s. In the 80s R only got attached to super violent/sexual/gorefest films and PG13 was for anything else no matter how brief the ultraviolence/sex was. PG13's in 99 would have still been PG before 1990. It wasn't a universally applied standardized set of rules.
