I completely understand Lynch now. Fitting for him to be a transcendental meditator, as his work is about the moment and not the big picture. Twin Peaks is his master work, and the finale a fitting ending. I currently feel like I'm aimlessly floating, I feel in a completely surreal state. Working us up about the story and characters was him setting things up so he could pull the rug out from under us, like a more advanced version of Mulholland Drive. I don't even mind that he pulled the rug out from under me though. Initially I did, when the final moment happened... But now I am completely at peace and in marvel at the raw talent of David Lynch. Lynch has mastered the entire movement of surrealism, this is its peak (no pun intended). In 5 decades or so Lynch will be hailed as a master.

It's just unbearably cruel and a complete kick in the balls, even more so than s2. At least Cooper and Laura seemed to be at peace somewhat in FWWM. Here you can tell Coop is going to live whatever life he has left in total mental and emotional agony with Laura not too far behind.

The ending, and the show is general, is about Cooper trying too hard to change everything but fucking it up more in the process. Cooper was able to save Twin Peaks but he got cocky and thought he could save Laura 25 years later. Now they're stuck in an alternate dimension, and Cooper will spend all of eternity trying to solve the mystery of Luara Palmer.
And now, people will spend forever trying to find an exact closer or meaning to the series. The message of all this is to learn to let go. Stop trying so hard, trying to make sense of everything. It's an endless loop. Learn to let things go, accept things as they are, and enjoy life. It was a beautiful story, with a beautiful message.

The world of Twin Peaks got its happy, smiley, friendship and love resolution. That was what we were seeing when Cooper's face was plastered across the screen. The only thing I didn't get was the Cooper / Diane romance. In the original series, he had been in love with Earle's wife, she died, and then he was being professional, until he fell in love with Annie. Why was him seeing Diane like Ed uniting with Norma or something?

17 was a nice resolution if they never make any more, 18 is a great hook for one last movie or shorter season 4. There are plot threads I wish had gotten more closure but I am satisfied with how it ended and think s3 was great overall.

Cooper saved the main world by Killing Bob and Evil Coop with the help of the people of Twin Peaks.

He went to go save Laura as well and Judy took her away and put her in the dream world (she flew away and screamed in Episode 2, 17, and 18. All these things happened at the same time)

Cooper went to the dream world to wake her up and he did in the end.

The giant told Cooper Richard and Linda Two Birds One Stone.

Laura is the Stone, Cooper is Richard, they need to find Diane, who is Linda. Then they can stop Judy.

The White Lodge sent Mr. C to the police station so that he would die there.

The ending card is Cooper and Laura in the darkness.

Cooper didn't fuck up, he is on the right track, Laura is the key to stopping Judy. Time Travel is nothing new and didn't fuck the timeline. Both Annie and Jeffries did it and nothing bad happened.

This feels like a set up for something more, but it could be the end depending on funding and Lynch.

All we know is that Sarah Palmer represents some sort of hope or salvation, being the "key". We saw Sarah Palmer in ep 17 bash the portrait of Laura Palmer repeatedly. If Judy is diametrically the opposite of the Fireman, who created Laura's Soul/Essence, then it makes sense that the powerful entity inside Sarah is Judy.

It also stands to reason that she's probably as powerful as the Fireman, so Coop and Laura will have to fuck with time and space to accomplish whatever Laura's destiny is supposed to be (RIP season 4).
