I really like this character, too. Shit, I really like *all* these characters. Comedy or not, Terror is legit spooky at times. Jackie Earle killing it as usual.

Ms. Lint's fucking awesome, too.
>>
>>87262916
Terror feels like what Sheev would be like if star wars was a comedy.
>>
>>87262916
Thats my favorite scene you posted, I love how its playing the 60s style superhero straight but with real violence.

I really like Arthur's stepdad. He seems like a fun dude.

No

>>87265828
Yes
He has a power to create shit. That's why the Tick appeared and why Terror came back.
>>
It's not really that funny and the budget is clearly low as hell and the villains are not nearly as goofy as the cartoon

HOWEVER The Tick was very well casted and I think he does a great job. He's not edgy like the 2001 version.

Will the Tick and Dot get involved in a relationship?

I've only ever said that prime and amazon video are two different services and that putting the tick on a service that nobody even knows exist or barely even use is a shit move, they barely have any marketing behind it. This is probably why tick threads gets barely any replies before they die out because nobody who wants to watch it has an easy way to watch it. "just sign up with prime for only $99 to see one show." isn't gonna cut it.

amazon does an awful job at marketing their original content. they have to send prime users pop up windows saying "HEY YOU HAVE PRIME VIDEO TOO" to get people to use it. a shame because all of their content is 1000x better than anything netflix or HBO could produce

Netflix has 100 million subscribers. Prime has an estimated 80 million. Granted a lot of prime users are just in it for the 2-day shipping and don't use or even know about their free video subscriptions. She got her bracelet fixed by The Terror in the end. No more lint for Ms. Lint. It's her own turnaround villain arc.
>>
>>87275408
My theory is that Arthur is unknowingly very powerful, and projecting both The Tick and The Terror. If you remember, Arthur fishes his meds out of his (small) trashcan, which indicates that he had only stopped taking them in the last couple days. Then The Tick shows up out of nowhere, with the memory of only the last couple days.
>>
>>87288825
I also think Dot knows more about this than she is letting on. She is constantly worried about him having an "episode" and insisting that he take his meds and stay "normal." She seems very intent on keeping Arthur "normal."
>>
>>87288825
That seems a bit far fetched. I think the whole meds thing/Tick isn't real was just a red herring done for comedic purposes.
>>
>>87288825
>>87289096
I think the implication is very clear that arthur has extremely powerful latent powers that projected the tick into reality. I don't agree with what people are saying about him projecting the terror as well though. Although I would buy it that he didn't project the original terror, but maybe his belief that he was still alive created a new one.

It is very interesting thinking about the scope of arthurs ability though. Even though its pretty obvious imo that he created the tick, who knows what the true extent of it is, and I hope they do something creative with it.
>>
>>87289096

>>
>>87289372
>Although I would buy it that he didn't project the original terror, but maybe his belief that he was still alive created a new one.
This is what I meant. He was so obsessed with The Terror still being alive (at the same time not taking his meds), then The Terror suddenly shows up again.

>>87289515
My theory is that The Tick is a full interdimensional megahero, long lived with tons of experience as a superhero, indestructable, and always suffering chronic amnesia who literally had a conversation with another transdimensional megahero called Destiny, who directed The Tick to Arthur because she sees larger conflict brewing and this is the way to stop it.

The Tick's backstory itself is a mystery to everyone, impossible to know, and at this point he's been acting as a hero for so long that his pre-hero identity simply doesn't exist.

Well they shotgun pilots out to fucking everyone and see what sticks. That's not the same as being full of content, they're definitely full of POTENTIAL content though they just don't have any serious production in place to handle that stuff like netflix does.
>>
>>87274021
I'd say it's better. I loved Warburton in the role, but the overall atmosphere they're building in this one is better. If I were to describe it, I'd say it's like a serious, believable world where regular people have become acclimated to the concept of super beings, serious, believable characters reacting to things in believable ways. Then you take that climate and drop in the Tick, an absolutely unstoppable brick of a cartoonish do-gooder, and watch him stomp all over everything.

In a way, I'd say it's even better than the original comic, because the parody characters aren't such obvious parodies like der Fledermaus and American Maid were. Superion, Terror, Ms. Lint, Overkill, I could see these guys show up in an actual "serious" comics and not even blink.

I'm OP, and to clarify what I meant about Amazon, what I meant is these are the same guys who gave us "Manchester by the Sea," one of the most soul-crushing depictions of depression I've ever seen. For the same guys who greenlit that to also be responsible for a show like this is just inconceivable to me.

It's the polar opposite of the focus-tested mediocrity that Hollywood's been churning out the past couple of decades. It's like instead of suits only interested in good "product" running the show, it's guys who love good stories.

I say that with full knowledge that they could drop the ball at literally any moment, but right now they've given us one of the best "cape" shows in recent memory, and it also happens to be one of the better comedies I've seen n quite a while.

They shove the 'premium' channels and videos right up in front no matter what you're looking at. They are master merchants with one of the worst websites in the world.

I am legitimately in love with Ms Lint. She is a 10/10 cutie.
>>
>>87302155
Definitely cute, her getting flustered over which fake eye was good.

I liked it a lot more than I thouht I would, but still think patrick did it better
>>
>>87303627
His show's far more tongue in cheek with way less edge
>>
>>87261491
It was fucking terrible.

>>87303627
It did everything better.
>>
>>87270033
I use it the most out of all the streaming services I have, much more than Netflix

Warburton has the voice but his Tick was just too funny and not enough insanity.
>>
>>87303874
This. Warburton came off as almost condescending when he really should be more childlike, which the new Tick pulls off perfectly.
>>
>>87305136
I blame that more on the overall tone of Warburton's series. His surroundings were too silly to provide a sufficient contrast to his child-like lunacy.
>>
>>87305259
True, Warburton is definitely capable of it. This just really shows the difference between making a show for network broadcast where you have to be fairly safe versus a private internet based service where you can do basically whatever the fuck you want.
>>
>>87305259
>>87305699
I do love Warburton's tick series but it was doing the cartoon bit really hard instead of going someplace new with the live actionness.

they have different standards than the rest of hollywood.

I mean if you look at it in context of business. These are guys that took a website, not even a physical network and began building the cart before the horse. (Horse being warehouses, physical stores, pretty much entire massive operation they have now.) and are currently in process of crushing the once unstoppable Walmart. Amazon is doing this. If they hire people that can accomplish that in business world, there's very little they probably cannot accomplish.
