Subtitles do suck though. I was watching City of God the other day, great film, but reading the entire movie gets tiring. Especially when film is a visual medium. It's hard to remember character's faces because every time they talk, you have to stare at the bottom of the screen.

Maybe if you're watching a pretentious, lingering Tarkovsky film, but modern dialogue is fast-paced. You spend 3/4 of the movie, diverting your eyes to the bottom. It gets annoying after a while.
