First one's problem is that he's a parody of the original without any of his positive qualities.
Second one's problem is that he's stuck in a propaganda piece that's "supposed" to be about a war between humans and aliens but really it's a manifesto for the author's moronic political views whereby every single military officer is a damn near perfect human being, fatherly figure, politician, engineer and strategist just to hammer the point about how much better military people are than us and how much better society would be if they ran everything.
