About to watch this.
What did I think of this?
Tarkovsky's best.
It's almost as spirituality profound as Snyder's capekino duology.
Meditative, introspective and Kino

Good film though not necessarily the most historically accurate.

>hurrr le capekino xD

Stalker is great, that was the first i watched from him. They're all good pretty different vibe each movie. Solaris is also good. There's that essay going around online saying how it's Tarkovsky's response to 2001.
>>87200204
If you actually mean Tarkovsky, Solaris is one of his most thought provoking ones. It's a great gateway into his filmography imo.
>>87200263
I know the soviets touted it as "their 2001"
>>87200263
>>87200299
Alright.
I have seen Steven Soderbergh's Solaris and it was pretty good.
>>87199777

You have to be a slav and orthodox to really appreciate it. There are scenes that you just can't get if you don't know russian history or old slavic culture (the bathing scene, actually kupala night, a pagan ritual venerating old-slavic gods e.g. in medieval times when this things were still the case in some areas).
Rublev is prettt gr8, and The Mirror is Tarkovsky at his apex
Maybe I will read about some slave history before watching it.

Watch it and find it weird like we all do.
it is an iconic film

IS THAT ETHAN KATH?
I really liked it, but it was a bit overlong imo.
It has some very standout scenes, and the cinematography(?) is impressive.
Does anyone know how historically accurate it is? Did Rublev actually break his how of silence by comforting the boy?
