Yeah the tone was "it had to happen" and they hinted at it since a couple of episodes. But the reaction he had when Sansa turned to him and said "Lord Baelish?" was gold!
Him bending the knee and almost crying was very out of character though...it was anti-climatic cause the showrunners don't give a shit anymore. Sansa and Arya do it but don't even gain any satisfaction from it. Basically, it had to happen, it's done, now let's move on. Bleh.

Show has been losing it since season 2. The books are all about a character in conflict with themselves. Every chapter touches on someone doubting themselves or deciding between principles or needs. Talisa is an example of a simple main character introduced by the show. She has no inner conflict and has an anachronistic way of interacting with others (especially kings).

I think in the fourth season you had the first episode entirely composed of original content, where Jon goes for an A-team mission beyond the wall to go back to Craster's Keep. Here you have a simple hero and a simple villain, returning to an iconic location.

It makes no sense. Arya and Sansa were maybe mad at each other, despite Arya not even wanting to be in charge, and then off-screen Sansa asks Bran to read the books and they surprise Peter Baelish, who claims to have thought about everything, including what to do when surrounded by a bunch of people who don't like him (as he's been for a year now).

Book Baelish will have a far better ending, it's obvious that he is going to "fly".

Yes. It became painfully obvious in this season the writers have no clue what to do with characters that used to be "one step ahead" like LF and Varys. As if they were too smart for them or something.
