First season and the prequel season are fun because of the over the top gore and sex scenes

Depends. Are you in it for Spartacus? Then it gets worse before it gets better, because he spends 80% of the season mopping around, which is understandable, but boring.
Be in it for Crixus and Batiatus instead.

It gets better by the fourth episode.

The CGI is dreadful, the plot is filled with predictable cliches and useless scenes but it has its charms - the camaraderie, the often charming dialogue and the nudity too I suppose

It's not something I'd ever rewatch but it was easy watchin my first time around
