But this thread was made first. That thread is an abomination, and the Riker fic would be in this thread if that OP hadn't failed at life.
The thread with the most trek gifs gets my vote.
"Ensign, I've got a job for you!"
You followed Commander Riker to his quarters. "You want me to... feed you dinner while you go over some data on your computer?"
He looked serious. "That's an order, ensign!" he said sternly before relaxing into that familiar warm smile of his.
Was it you, or did he look... uh, heftier than usual? You examined his body from bottom to top. His pants looked tight on his thicker thighs and big womanish ass. His plump gut, which had absorbed most of the extra weight, hung over his waistband and threatened to burst out of his shirt at any moment. His face looked fuller and you were pretty sure his beard hid a double chin. You thought the weight didn't look bad on him, proportioned well over his already bulky frame.
You sat down next to him at his desk and began popping chicken nuggets into his mouth one by one. He was too engrossed in his work to look at you, but he let out an occasional moan of pleasure. After having devoured the entire 50 piece nugget meal, including a large fry, he opened his mouth expectantly before looking at you.
"Oh, is that all? OK, dismissed. Nice work, ensign."

Awful. Truly awful. Your story sucks. Lucille Ball was the one who greenlit Star Trek and fought to keep it going even though it was losing money. Gene couldn't thank her enough. In any case, she was no longer involved by the time that Star Trek was canceled. In fact, Desilu didn't even exist anymore in 1969, so there's no way in hell that your inclusion of Desilu makes sense. Read a book.
If you can't be historically accurate then why even bother? What next, you'll run a Vegas holoprogram where everyone is welcome?

We're talking about "The Captains". Did you even watch the documentary?
"There were days when my kids were suffering, and, you know, you can't walk off a set... so the preoccupation with your children's pain is enormous, and add to that eight pages of "techno-babble" that you've got to execute by 2:00 in the morning and you can't get to the phone because they don't let you... It's... it's... it's very hard... You know, in retrospect, you know, I mean, you could do it that way... Say, oh, I should have done this as opposed... I mean, who knows? I mean, so, so... so I hold fast to what I've chosen to do and I'm not apologizing for that, but the attendant toll taken on family and all of that, it's... That's it."

Imagine being Miles O'Brien on that station and having to be all like "damn, Deep Space 9, you fuckin' fine, all sexy with your dull grey corridors and horrific architecture. I would totally perform maintenance on you, both my mirror universe counterpart and the real me." when all he really wants to do is serve on Starfleet's flagship in the transporter room. Like seriously imagine having to be O'Brien and not only work overtime while Deep Space 9 flaunts its disgusting consoles in front of you, the favorable lighting barely concealing the poor cable management and rusty flux capacitors, and just sit there, day after day, hour after hour, while it breaks down even further. Not only having to tolerate the monstrous fucking promenade but its good reputation as everyone on station says its STILL GOT IT and DAMN, DEEP SPACE 9 LOOKS LIKE *THAT*?? because they're not the ones who have to sit there and watch its self-sealing stem bolts contort into types of trash you didn't even know existed before that day. You've been maintaining nothing but a healthy diet of transporters and flagships and later alleged cloaking devices for your ENTIRE CAREER coming straight out of the boonies on Earth. You've never even seen anything this fucking disgusting before, and now you swear you can taste the rust that's breaking out on its dented hull as it is sucked in by the vacuum of space, your colleagues smugly assured that you are enjoying the opportunity to get paid to sit there and revel in its "statuesque (for that is what they call it)" beauty, the beauty the Cardassians worked so hard for with Bajoran slave workers in the previous years. And then the commander calls for another maintenance check, and you know you could kill every single person on this station before Odo could put you down, but you sit there and endure, because you're fucking O'Brien. You're not going to lose your future Starfleet Academy career over this. Just bear it. Hide your face and bear it.

>>87183845
Welcome to Hell anon

Trust me, this is gonna be s1 of Ent and most of VOY combined

I am not prepared.
Everything about this is wrong.
Everything looks wrong.

.... what.

I mean at least ENT and VOY had good parts. I just don't see this making anything good.

Franchise link?
How fucking stupid is Janeway in the episode "Night"?
>no we can't take VITAL FOOD THAT WE NEED from this guy because he's a bad guy and that would make us like the bad guys
>lol maybe if we start a federation and try to enforce our ideals on everyone we can get out of here somehow
Handwaved their way out of the void because of this insanity. Janeway was always trading life or death for Federation principles.
>>87184924
Janeway had no intention of getting them home, it happened by accident because of Borg cheat codes
She liked being Supreme Commander of the Delta Federation too much
>>87184999
sick trips lad
anyhow, I can't see how the writers could think putting people in a life or death situation like that and having everyone just tacitly agree and go along with Janeway's "our principles or death" mentality would look anything but bonkers
The cast were better than the writers giving them this slop.
>>87182596
man this looks fucking lame
>>87185195
>The cast were better than the writers giving them this slop.
I really do like how Katherine Mulgrew interpreted Janeway as being bipolar (or otherwise mentally ill) and portrayed her as such.
>>87184664
How is it that a fucking Seth McFarline comedy show has better production, cinematography, themes and acting than a official prequel to one of if not the most famous sci-fi series in history?
>>87176535
>oh, just the family stuff
Yep. Just fuck your kids up for life just so you can be a shitty tv actor on a shitty tv show.. No biggie.

Seth is a real star trek fan. the people working on STD are quoted as saying they hope the new show makes fans mad...

>>87185873
yeah but whoever came up with these design clearly doesn't know star trek
>>87185810
Wait why did they say that they wanted to make show fans mad?
>>87186077
Not sure I believe the quote, but I tghink it implies they hope Discovery makes Trek fans mad by how shit it is
>>87186077
they don't care about star trek. here is chris isaac's exact quote "I don’t mean to sound irreverent when I say I don’t care about the die-hard Trek fans. I only ‘don’t care’ about them in the sense that I know they’re all going to watch anyway. I look forward to having the fun of them being outraged, so they can sit up all night and talk about it with each other.”
>>87186124
Trek fans are never happy. Just ignoring them is for the best.
>>87185776
>all life is born from chaos
So chaos truly is a ladder
>>87186190
So he is endorsing shitposting on /tv/? Huh.
>>87184325
I just watched this episode, he got his ass handed to him
>>87185916
>yeah but whoever came up with these design clearly doesn't know star trek
Well they are going for such an obvious modern VG aesthetic mixed in with JJ movies. It feels like an appeal to hollywood modern sci-fi too much and the trailer's even built around the typical hollywood trailer archetype.
>>87186426
it seems that way and now they are going for an edgier version, gore and nudity now. trying to get those GOT fags watching

sometime in the future, "hey guys we need rules for time travel".
nazi aliens "screw you. you can't tell us what to do". and they time travel to ww2 earth, and from there they go forward to another point.
everyone else flips out and starts time travel antics. The Illusive Man is working with the Sulliban to get Archer to do what he wants. Then you have the aliens manipulating the Xindi. who are just doing their own thing and don't care about the nazis or the illusive man. lastly are the Federation time police. who are just trying to get everything back to how it was before the nazis went rogue, and keep them from doing it again.

I'm going to wait until STD is out to start watching The Orville.
I have a plan. I'm going to compare all them against each other, and send up the reviews on /tv/
ie. Watch first episode of TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, and STD, and The Orville, and compare and contrast each of them. I plan to avoid using any knowledge of future episodes to my advantage, and look at each one as a standalone and only looking at how the episodes stack up with the episodes that have come before it.
So, I decided to finish the episode Night from Voyager (which one of you cruel insubordinates described as "good /voy/").
It's as though each subsequent act intends to supplant the previous for most absurd and outlandish. Take for example Janeway's proposal of joining HER alliance to the Beakman. He threatens to kill Fantome's race with the calmness of sloth-human hybrid but Janeway accepts him anyways.
Two scenes later, he's installing MOBOs for some reactor and Janeway starts grilling about where he got the technology. He explains how he already destroyed the people who had the technology so she, of course, goes full Bakersfield chimp on him and tells him to get it out of engineering and then finally to get out of the alliance.
Not sure who I'm more pissed off at right now, that anon who recommended this pile of manure or the writers of the show.

>Seth MacFarlane: ‘The Orville’ Occupies Sci-Fi Space ‘Star Trek’ Left Behind En Route To Dystopia
>“I miss the…aspirational place Star Trek used to occupy,” MacFarlane said. “They’ve chosen to go in a different direction,” he said, describing that direction as dystopian. The aspirational space of early Star Trek, MacFarlane maintained, now is “unoccupied.”
>“They can’t all be Hunger Games,” he said. “There is some space for aspirational.” The Orville, he said is “an attempt to fill that void.”

>No, pretty fit actually, looks like my heart arrythmia brought it on

>Maybe it's because it was created by Seth MacFarlane, the man behind popular comedies such as "Family Guy," but it seemed like his new Fox show "The Orville" would be funny.
>Unfortunately, it just isn't.
>In trailers, "The Orville" is portrayed as a Star Trek parody. It's set in an idealistic future where a fleet of discovery space vessels are run by an interplanetary military organization, but Ed Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) is not the ideal leader. After he caught his wife, Kelly Grayson (Adrianne Palicki), cheating on him a year before, he's fallen apart and his career has gone downhill. But he's been given one last chance with his promotion to captain of the U.S.S. Orville.
>The setup for Ed's character suggests that he will be an unorthodox captain, almost an antihero. Viewers are given to expect he will likely make a lot of mistakes, maybe almost get fired before making up for it with his grit and spirit. This idea is only increased when he insists on hiring his loose cannon friend Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes) as his helmsman. But in the following episodes, this setup is almost completely dropped and Ed is mostly portrayed as a competent, normal captain and Gordon as a successful, talented spaceship pilot.
>Part of the show's problem is its focus. Midway through the first episode, Ed's ex-wife is hired as his first officer — apparently at her own request — and the show devolves into being all about their relationship, sacrificing every other potential plot development as a result.
>Sure, this seems like a humorous premise, and occasionally it is. But it quickly gets old. The chemistry between Palicki and MacFarlane is not very strong and most of their arguing falls flat and ends up feeling repetitive and annoying.
(continued)
>>87192764
>But the show's biggest fault is simply that it takes itself too seriously. It feels like it wants to be a television version of "Galaxy Quest," but the story never goes completely into that goofy territory. Instead, the first three episodes that Fox released for press screenings just get more and more serious.
>The pilot is the funniest of the first three episodes, with the next two attempting to explore controversial modern topics, in the same way the original "Star Trek" series often would. Episode two touches on the ethics of zoos; episode three dives deeply into issues of gender conformity.
>Because the show can't seem to decide if it wants to be funny or serious, it doesn't really succeed at either. Moments that might be emotional and deep are interrupted with inappropriate humor and, instead of laughing or crying, viewers are left confused and bored.
>Also, "The Orville" doesn't appear to have the budget to really be an action-packed Star Trek drama. The graphics are cheesy, the actors seem to be comedians trying to do drama and not really succeeding and the writing is not up to par. The show probably would have been more successful if it had gone all in with humor. Instead, it's mostly disappointing.
>"The Orville" would probably get a PG-13 rating if it were a movie for some language and crude humor. The violence isn't graphic and, so far, there's almost no sexual content.
>You can check out the hourlong episodes of "The Orville" starting Sept. 10 on Fox.
