Del toro is as much of an Auteur as Nolan. Even his capekino has his fantastical visual style.

His friends (Curon, Innaritu) I guess Taco decided to get off his fatass and prove he didn't peak with Pan's Labyrinth but a decade ago you couldn't have predicted that it would be innaritu who will have two best directors and a best picture Oscar.(although for 2 mediocre movies)
