A lot of people wonder how General Hacky McCoughenstein went from being a badass in Genndy Wars to just being plain garbage in Revenge of the Sith, as well as his voice deepening and him coughing all the time.
Originally it was Mace who did this by smashing the general's organs like a Pepsi can, but thanks to the 2008 CGI Clone wars, not anymore....

He was so badass in the animated series, like an actual threat. We see him kill multiple jedi, and in hindsight it would make sense that he would be badass. A robot with no fatigue, unlimited potential, trained in all forms of lightsaber combat that could prob memorize or them or some shit, and hate 4 arms. Seems like he would be OP, but no we get

Lucas always intended him to be a mustache-twirling camp villain. It's a throwback to cartoon and serial villains, which he loves. That's the main reason he gives all of his villain extremely literal names. The guys making the cartoon aren't hacks like Lucas.

Like George Lucas did for the entirety of the OT? Even putting the obvious influences aside, he was barely responsible for it working; it's now common knowledge about ESB and ROTJ, but he barely wrote Star Wars, was lazy about directing it, and had to get his wife to edit a watchable version. And he still tries to take credit for everything about the trilogy.
