I bet you like garbage adapatations like BBC Musketeers or 98's Man in the Iron Mask too where there's just as much cuckshit that Dumas would never have permitted.

FYI, an actually good adaptation of Monte Cristo is the miniseries starring Depardieu.

>>
>>87129761

Absolutely awesome film from start to finish. I watch it once a year.
>>
>>87139739
>it wasn't exactly what they wanted.
Because it's not a gangster movie, everyone just assumed it was because Robert DeNiro was involved and it's about Italians in New York. Judging a movie because you expected the wrong thing is pretty stupid; it would be like if everyone hated Twins because Arnold Schwarzenegger wasn't blowing things up and killing people.

It's a pretty great coming of age story, and I think it's kind of sad that it gets overlooked a lot because people remember it as a subpar gangster movie it wasn't even trying to be.

Not that guy but out of curiosity which movies of his would you say were good?

I like A few good men but imho that was carried by Nicholson, Last Samurai, which I suspect I only liked because I'm fascinated with the culture and Rain man, which again I'd say wasn't carried by Cruise and the one about after death hallucinations or some such. Vanilla smth, which I know I liked but don't remember shit about. Other than those I only remember many mediocre movies, from Top Gun over various Mission Impossibles and Jack Reacher type flicks to Collateral.

The fucking camera was zoomed in so far during the fight scenes you couldn't see wtf was happening. I have no idea what connection that valid criticism has with being a woman or child but whatever.

>>87142369
The way the backstory is told through the props and costumes and cars, the way the cars are natural outcomes of the world they were born in, and you can tell just by looking at them, the incredible practical effects are touched up by CGI but it's subtle, and I just love insaneMAX as a character, actually losing his mind because of his guilt. the romance and SexyGirls aspects are kept to a minimum but when they come up they make actual sense i.e. when he comes upon the girls after the sandstorm and it's a sexy scene with girls playing with water it actually makes sense that they are using the water. the fact that we understand MAX's character even though he has like, 10 lines in the entire movie. It's just story telling through action.

In comparison things like bloodsport have zero subtly and it's all about how the big man conquered his opposition. it's simplistic, pleb tier.

It's good. Just skip hannibal rising. it destroys hannibal lectors character. instead of someone who is so smart and so psychopathological that he chooses to do terrible things to us normies, he becomes the victim of abuse and childhood trauma and is more or less compelled by his abuse to do the terrible things. Was a much more scary character when he had chosen his life rather than being a victim of it.

>disappointed waWA plays
Also, this happened to Willy Wonka in the Johnny Depp version. He became a victim of childhood psychological abuse rather than someone who just chose to live a fun candy filled life because candy is fun.

It really takes away from a character when writers use the damaged-childhood-so-thus-psycho trope. They use it all the time and it makes me sad.

>In comparison things like bloodsport have zero subtly and it's all about how the big man conquered his opposition. it's simplistic, pleb tier.
Crossed the line there pal. Fury Road was pretty good and I liked your points, but taking shots at Bloodsport was a bad move.
Only Bloodsport can convey the psyche of a man willing to honor his teacher, mentor, and father figure, even going as far as forsaking a duty to his country.
The way the training scenes were filmed putting an emphasis on that relationships, and the chase scenes highlighted the struggle Dux had wrestling with duty to his country, against upholding his teacher's honor and memory.
Only plebs will see Bloodsport as a simplistic action movie.

I've found it once on TV by accident and loved it. I wasn't watching it from the beginning and the twist at the end was a big surprise for me.
But when later I saw it again in it's entirety I thought that it's pretty obvious from the start that boy from the beginning is Hartnett. Was it though only because I've seen it before or other people who watched it think the same?

>fury road

had some good scenes, but the movie was putting pussy on a pedastal and pushing communism on epic proportions,

there was no reason i see for rescuing those "pretty girls" who were in all reality only good for breeding and were kept in a relatiely comfortable setting, by the man who built the hydrolic powered semblance of civilization. And genuinely just wanted his pregnant woman back carrying his child.

all over the thousands of starving dehydrated people who came to his hide out demandinghe give ALL the fucking water.

it kinda proved women shouldnt be let in charge, at some point the problems they create are much worse than any they may have helped solve in the past.

>Furiosa is the protagonist saving the princesses from babymaking to go live as gardeners when the place they left had the greatest permiculture known to anyone.
