This is so stupid. The book is specifically about the ways the patriarchy/society/globalists/whatever tell boys to be masculine. It's why they end up killing each other and raping a pig pretty quickly. For this adaptation to work, it would need to instead focus on the social hierarchies young girls build, full of ostracizing and emotional competition, as opposed to might makes right violence that boys would tend towards. But the writers have already stated that they're sticking to the books as closely as possible.

The idea could be fine if adapted right, but they literally just slapped girls on a random property, and both the left and right are annoyed by it.

It amazes me to see people asking "why would they do this?".
