He did things wrong but honestly he wasn't nearly as bad as everyone said he was and seemed to at least have a modicum of self-awareness.

Also, the writer and Fick were buttbuddies IRL and had a special arrangement where he would make Fick look like a competent hero while the other officers looked like shit. It becomes quite apparent on a second viewing just how BORING Fick's character was because the writer made him such a good person devoid of nuance. The series also neglects to add at the end that Casey Kasem actually did something quite heroic during the Battle of Fallujah, instead just making him look like a real prick.

Despite all this, amazing series and GREAT characters. Trombley and Iceman were my favorites.
