Since I realized he is actually quite popular and comes off as babby's first surrealist my inner contrarian tried to suppress respect towards him, but even at his worst this man never ceases to rezonate with me.

I think I have to go with "yes", especially considering how flawlessly he LYNCHED his entire audience. I unironically find it one of the greatest experiences to find in TV history.

He is, but /tv/ overrates Twin Peaks so much that I've grown bitter towards him.

I've watched 10 episodes. It's very inconsistent - and I think it's missing an emotional connection. His work often sparked emotions, but I feel like I'm simply watching it - I'm not invested. Not that there aren't good stuff, episode 8 being a good example. I quite enjoyed episode 10 as well.
It doesn't help with how overrated /tv/ or /tpg/ makes it. People went on about how The Glass Box scenes were the scariest thing on TV.
I'm not normally scared by film/tv, but that shit wasn't scary at all. Even worse, it was incredibly predictable.
Compare that scene to the car ride in Blue Velvet, or the red light in Inland Empire. Those were scenes that really exuded a tense atmosphere.

He's a real artist. He reminds me of an art student- he's has no fear experimenting with new things. He makes mistakes, which is fine, because that's the natural consequence of experimenting.
Usually when artists age they sort of wither up into their own niche and don't stick their necks out. But not Lynch. I mean shit, imagine the balls it takes to come out with your own music album, and with a voice like that. Some of it isn't even terrible.

I think that Blue Velvet was his literal peak. Everything since then has been sort of tryhard and like a parody of himself. From time to time I get the same feeling I did when watching Blue Velvet for the first time, but it's somewhat rare. That being said, he's had more impact on art than anyone on 4chan will ever have so there's that.
