Just turned this on, what am I in for?

a lot of boring screaming scenes and quite scenes and puking scenes and an ambiguous ending.

So kino is not on the menu tonight?
Real answer: if you're a film lover you will appreciate the ambience and tone that the film takes the time to create however people are justified in being let down by the lack of real horror aspects.

I appreciate both of those things. So let's say I want some solid horror that I haven't seen before. What should I go for?

Repulsion

Have you seen The Witch, It Follows, They Look Like People? They're kinda similar to this, serious indie horror.
If you want an amazing horror film, The Wailing from last year is your best bet but it's 2 1/2 hours long or so

Haven't seen them as the consensus seems to be that they are lacking traditional horror elements. Have I been mislead?

All 4 that I mentioned in that post are great. I don't know what people consider "real horror" but they all contain scary and disturbing elements to them. Only contrarian fags would actually call any of them bad.
