1. Why did the boys at the beginning get abducted; why did they become soldiers?

Will Carlson is a 20-something loser who lives in a rundown neighborhood in New Jersey, where he ekes out a living as a birthday party clown in order to pay the rent for his abusive mother's nursing home and the rent on his rundown house. There's about 50 'nunsploitation' films alone which show disturbing things based on may or may not have happened in convents throughout the ages. There are literally hundreds of (mainly European) films that show similar things. You should also read 120 Days of Sodom by Maquis De Sade.
