First time poster, long time lurker and even longer time fan. I love the original run, TPTR, FWWM and every book involved therein. My husband likes the original run and has really been struggling to enjoy The Return. We have argued about, basically, every episode. Until last night. I watched the entire 16 parts click for someone who had previously not been too into it. He just isn't a huge art fan, he is very left brained, he likes weird stuff but this has been "too weird" for him. Anyway the point is, after part 16 he said "What David Lynch has done here is brilliant" and went on to explain how part 16 wouldn't have been as impactful to him with out every part of the last 15. To me that is really the brilliance here, those fans that might have been "lost" just found their way back. I realize this is probably a very obvious point but it made my heart all warm.

E16 was such an emotional experience for me, that as soon as I realized Cooper was going to wake up from his coma I paused my TV and took a shower. I've been in a depressive episode recently, and I'm at the point where I'm struggling with the will to even shower. For me, Twin Peaks stopped having a plot as soon as Laura's killer was revealed. The Return doesn't have much of a plot, it has some small storylines and most of them got quietly finished. There's nothing that I want to know in particular, I just want to see things happening. It's how I've watched this season, and it has been great. I think the general opinion of ep9-12 will improve with rewatch. Since the main plotlines of FBI/Dougie hardly had any advancement over those episodes I think on a first watch that they disappointed expectations of where the episodes would go.
