When did you realize the Lannisters were the best characters

Tywin was the best character, he was the only reason I watched the show. Roose Bolton, Stannis Baratheon are the other two.

Only characters that don't rely on deus ex machinas as well.

There were some solid performances on the Stark's side. Sean Bean was great as Ned and Catelyn Stark managed to incarnate the book character perfectly. Also Robert was a blast and Stannis was pretty charismatic.

All in all though, the Lannisters have the best actors.
