I never said females are barred from inheriting, they're just treated equal to males in Dorne. It's pointed out in the story quite a bit and just goes to show that laws can vary in the seven kingdoms depending on tradition, in special cases. Dorne being one of them for being unconquered by Aegon, the North being another due to it's size and culture.

I don't really have a horse in this race but I think Littlefinger not asking for a trial by combat is the least of this scene's problems, and I don't think Sansa possibly denying him one would be seen as anything more than an insult.

Outside of Varys, there's no one more privy to secrets and intel of the Seven Kingdoms than Littlefinger. At this point in time Ramsay's tyranny, love for flaying, hunting men, and torture were well known.
