I was legitimately saddened when reading about this in the leaks. I was kind of hoping the leaks were wrong, but it seems like D&D is more interested in making the rabid fanbase scream yaaas queen instead of constructing something well thought out. Littlefinger deserved better.

Littlefinger, master of intrigue, gets run in circles around by two fucking girls. He even fucking says to Sansa that she should always think about the worse possible scenario, yet he doesn't even do that himself. If he had play his lilttle game for two seconds, he would have maybe considered that he was being played.

The show's writers were just consolidating storylines. In the books, Sansa is in the Vale with LF learning what it means to be a mastermind. There's a girl married off to the Boltons who is just some random Northerner posing as Sansa.

His death is just really weird and doesn't fit with his character and was pretty clearly (imo) something that was designated to happen in this season finale and the show-writers had to rush some kind of contrivance to make it happen. The series is now almost myopically focused on the Final Boss and a character like Littlefinger, who made the series what it was, doesn't have a place in it anymore

I just think it's very odd because... why did they write that scene in at all? I remember when it happened people theorized about how it might change littlefinger's plans. He just barrels ahead and pretends it never happened. There's just gotta be a bunch of scenes cut from the show, or demands made on the writers that they have to acquiesce to.

He was one of my favorite characters for so long, but it feels like they ran out of ideas on what to do with him. Seeing Arya execute him was neat, but ultimately CIA guy was just wasted potential.

Just like almost every other character in GoT.

It should have been a good death. Guy who wins by sneaking around and lying to people accidentally ends up running into a better (or at least very well trained) liar and a dude who can't be lied to. Ideally he would have tried lots of shit to get his way, pushed and pushed, and eventually was driven crazy, almost killed Bran, got caught, and THEN they killed him. Or stuck him in jail so we got a scene where he confesses to everything he did before he gets done in.
