I fell in love with LFB in my first viewing. Her eyes, her voice, her smile, they captivated me in a way no other girl did in the show. But in the second season, when she starts wearing Laura's glasses, smoking, harassing Harold... Her character becomes highly unlikable. Then she has absolutely nothing to do in S2, so she kinda helps James resolve his subplot and finds out she's Ben Horne's daughter which has no bearing or resolution. She became pretty worthless after Laura's murder was solved.

It has nothing to do with her recasting. Like James, she would have had to have been reimagined into a new character. And also not have her face mangled by certified surgeons.

A thread or two ago someone asked why Lynch has Poles dramatically come up in his movies. My intuition is that Poles are just omnipresent in America. You can't find any part of the country without Polish immigrants or people of Polish ancestry who, in turn, have immigrant relatives.
