Why did he do it?

Same reason anybody copies what he did, he watched some movie like Into the Wild that romanticizes hobos
Deathwish
why haven't you? thats the real question
Here's the real question: Who was dumber?
Timothy Treadwell or Chris McCandless?
was he an amateur or is surviving the wilderness that hard?
you'll realize why when you're sitting in traffic on your way to work tomorrow.

Both really but he was very unprepared. If he'd just brought a map he could have walked out alive.

This>>86960575 and also the only real food he brought was rice, he was out in the Alaskan wilderness as winter approached, didn't know how to properly butcher a moose so he had to live off small game which was fairly abundant but you will eventually starve if living off it because of how little fat those animals have. You need fat to survive and if you're camping in the Alaskan wilderness during winter it's 10x more important.
But really, he neglected boy scout rule #1: bring a compass.

I've never worked
>>86960510
I've been thinking this quite often recently. But I wouldn't go to Alaska, I would sell everything I own and move to a trailer in Montana in the woods somewhere and see how long I can live on it

Easier and more satisfying to pull a D-FENS. Quicker too.

buddy didn't even have a map, let alone compass.
