Never been able to find the cartoon but when I was really young I was watching daytime TV on my parents bed alone and this short cartoon about two brothers living in a house by themselves came on. When I was 6 or 7 I remember seeing this scene while I was watching TV that scared the shit out of me. I can't recall all the details, all I remember is that a female character was looking at a TV or some other kind of screen and there were weird tentacles/legs on the screen, and when she saw them she screamed. I don't know why it scared me so bad but I lost sleep over it every night for weeks. I just remember it being really tense as he started at the edge of something in a room that was blocking his view and then an alien slowing peeking around and looking at him. I prefer empty churches as well. I know I'll get called a fedora-wearing hipster because of this, but I think the real horror of a church is all the believers in it, at least as a child, because as a child you rely on adults to protect you and in church you realize they're all kind of crazy and the limits of your reliance on them can be met shockingly easily.

But then you leave them all behind and become your own man, so it's not so bad. I actually became a janitor at my church and Catholic grade school as a teenager. Seeing the place empty was that comfy.
