I identified the most with Francis, I liked him the most. His progression was quite organic and also fun to watch.
I guess it makes sense that he'd lose it someday and roam around again, but the reason was stupid, even though I know that was the joke. I feel like Otto would have not fired Francis regardless of what he did. That seemed especially clear in the episode where they celebrate his anniversary at the ranch.
It only bothers me because this show is able to produce more than just laughter. It is realistic, mostly grounded, but still does a lot of creative things and they don't mind being retarded from time to time. It's not about relationships with strangers or friends, but family. And they evolve. Even if it's not by much. That's why I compare it to "Fresh Prince", it achieved similiar powerful moments (even moreso, which is why I enjoy Fresh Prince much more).
Other than that, I like how the rest of the cast evolves into stupider versions, Hal especially, without becoming caricatures of themselves. Instead, it added to the characters for the most part. That is rare.

I went through a phase a few months ago of rewatching and I looked up some retrospectives on the series. I really feel like this show is criminally underrated. One of the pieces i read talked about how MitM worked so well because it can resonate to both kids and adults. From a kids point of view it tells a story of trying to escape and rebel against authority and adults can view it and see a working class couple struggle to keep everything together. I thought that was well put.

As a kid, I didn't really like the show because it hit too close to home. It seemede far too real to me to throughly enjoy it.
Then again, I also saw Lois only as an evil being who was incapable of any emotions. Now, I can see that she's far more dimensional. I'd agree with that review.
Actually, I'm rewatching the show as we speak (in german, since Hal's voice seems more fitting, and I'm used to it anyways). Right now, I'm at S6, and not a single episode is really bad, at most just kinda average.
I hate Malcolm. He's such a whiny waste of space. Literally everyone else is less painful to watch than he is.
I'm reading Bryan Cranston's autobiography right now. Pretty interesting, desu. Shit writer, though.
