It pisses me off because in the articles that accuse the movie of "White Washing" there is always some quote from a producer who is like
>Oh we don't look at race he just gave an incredible audition and we had to have him.
But this guy Nat Wolff was laughably bad and I felt embarrassed watching the show.
I suspect the reality is that this dude is gay and the directors are gay and the audition was Nat Wolff just getting fucked by the directors. Honestly, I don't care about the "white washing" so much, but I probably would have liked it more if it had been more authentic with Japanese actors who are worth a damn, even if the whole thing had to be subtitled or dubbed.
What really pisses me off though is the double-standard where everytime a white guy plays an asian role there's some big outcry by the MSM but these same critics applaud every time some white character is played by a black or brown or even if it is gender-swapped.
I mean, we hear the same shit with the new Lady Doctor Who, how casting her "wasn't about gender" but instead because the "gave such an amazing performance at her audition. She will probably be terrible but no one will be allowed to criticize because sexism and Nazis.
They were pretty open about intentionally casting a women for the next Doctor Who
nobody gives a shit you have an asian fetish
anime characters are white
