Good, but it feels like they tried too hard in season 2.

Because the first season was subtle and restrained?
Trying too hard is the entire driving force behind the show.
Good, but not as intelligent as R&M. It tries too hard to seem ''unique'' and ''profound'' and at the same time fails to do both of these things. Sure you can catch a ''subtle'' college grade philosophical quote here and there, but it's all drowned in an endless wave of mediocre "humor' parading as something deep. Rick and Morty, on the other hand doesn't need any of this fakery to get its point across - it's blunt and it's honest. Rick, for example, doesn't hide his nihilism under layers of supposed philosophy, he just says it as it is. Some people here might hate him for that, but the show's popularity reveals something - people love good, honest and actually intelligent humor.

Hey, look at this guy, hes pretending to have misunderstood the show! Everyone give him attention!
Season 1 is fucking brilliant and feels really natural. Season 2 feels like somebody trying to copy season 1 and didn't understand it.
