>>

I'm not buying that. The history says they were sieged on that planet for many years. Should be a lot more infrastructure.

>>86922299
This
>>
>>86923270
Gotta remember the entire Wraith/Atlantian war went on for hundreds of years if not more.

>Atlantians have them outgunned/numbered/tech on their side
>Wraith slowly and surely pick them off one ship at a time by leading them into deep space/uncharted territory.
>gain more technology throughout the war
>use clone facilities to boost army shock troops
>steadily force the Atlantians to retreat back to Atlantis one section of space at a time
>taking and destroying their shit as they go and gorging themselves on the human populations

As far as ZPMs go, Asguard, Earth, the Wraith all knew how to use em but as far as making them went no one but ascended beings and replicators knew how and they werent telling
>>
The worst thing about Stargate Atlantis is that the Ancients are physically, mentally and technologically inferior to what we initially see in SG-1.
>>
>>86924412
Remember when they found a ship full of Ancients and they returned to Atlantis, only to get killed by the Replicators a few days later.
>>
>>86924412
no there not, they do shit like create weapons that can destroy every stargate, their ships at full strength are basically invincible, by the time the humans got their all the tech was millions of years old and their wasn't enough powah
>>
>>86924412
When the Ancients were in the Milky Way Galaxy they were at the height of their power
>Seeded the entire galaxy with life then stargates
>had settlements throughout the entire Galaxy
>have open relationship with neighboring advanced civilizations Asguard, Nox, and Furlings
>Ori virus asswrecks the entire thing after millions of years
>The Ancients flee to Pegusus Galaxy in hopes of starting over
>about 50% done when they either discovered the Wraith or created the Wraith through human/Iratis Bug experimentation
>get galaxy took from them by the Wraith and survivors flee back to Milky way to disperse into it or ascend

The better question is why didn't they do anything with the Subspace Capacitor that powered the Alternative Reality Drive from the episode Daedalus Variations? It was human technology from a relatively equal parallel universe and they had to have taken a pretty good look at it to figure out how to modify it to make it more efficient. Reverse engineering a power source almost as powerful as a ZPM, but readily renewable that a ship void of crew could keep hopping through realities by itself, would be one hell of a useful tool.

>Wraith start wrecking Ancients
>Ancients create Replicators to fight Wraith
>Replicators rebel and start wrecking Ancients
>>
>>86926760
The Pegasus replicators didn't start wrecking anything until McKay dicked around with code. The ancients blew up their city and thought they were wiped out. Then they just rebuilt and sat on their asses for thousands of years.
>>
>>86923204
it was never as good as sg1 and it got worse after they brought in tapping
>>
>>86926760
Lanteans were really pretty awful for the galaxy. They invented a ton of cool stuff but made so many cock-ups with regards to interfering in cultures and letting loose their botched creations.
And to top it all off they just said "fuck this shit", ascended and left all of their dangerous junk lying around for other people to use or clear up, leading to millennia of false gods and slavery. When someone like Daniel asks them to clear their shit up they pull the "we cannot interfere" line when they ere the ones that caused the problem.
At least the Ori were honest in their dealings with the galaxy and didn't hide behind some bullshit pacifist philosophy so they could ignore their mistakes.
>>
>>86923204
its definetly worth watching but it takes a season to ''get started'', and the last season also dampens off a bit
still good overall imo, lots of golden episodes inbetween

But it got better again when they replaced her with Robert Picardo.

Atlantis was never quite as good as prime SG-1, but it was never as bad as SG-1 got either. It was substantially better than later seasons of SG-1.

Stargate is the ongoing story about the search for a bigger battery.

From Naquadah to naquadria to ZPMs to a special kind of planet needed to open the gate in SGU.
>>
>>86922170
>Ancients are advanced, build all kinds of nice shiny things
>Every time they find something Ancient it gets destroyed a few episodes later
>Every time they find ancients, they're either ghosts, dead or about to be dead
>Every time you were rooting for the team to actually have something nice to rise up the stakes, it got taken away and they were back to being earthly technology poorfags again
This trope. What did they mean by this?
>>
>>86923426

It's surprising how good they managed to make the space battles look given the budget restrictions.

The different classes of ship move differently, the carriers lay broadside battery attacks, the Prometheus ship is designed differently so attacks head first, the small ships are like angry bees, the ancient ships exploited cloaking shields.. railguns are different from the main batteries are different from the missiles..

A lot of movies don't get this right.

I think seeing the progression of the tauri is a big part of the appeal of the show, but they spent like 6 seasons crawling their way into technological advancement and failing at bringing tech back/convincing other civs to give them tech, only to get everything handed to them in the last few seasons.
ZPMs, tauri battle cruisers and asgard technology were a mistake.

The ships were made out of Trinium, not Naquada.
Naquada/Naquadria or whatever the shit it was named was their fuel for travel.
>>
>>86943195
actually it was an alloy of mostly trinium with some naquada

>There are several different spellings of Naquadah, including Naqahdah and Naquada. Naquadah is the variant used in most official sources.
>Naquadria is a highly unstable radioactive isotope of Naquadah.

I love that Stargate had the confidence to make fun of itself like this at various points. The FarGate mashup was so obvious it was great when they finally acknowledged it.
The Wormhole Xtreme ones were fantastic for lampshading (yes, I learned that term from this show) how stupid it all was. Like when one of the actresses asked the producers why people who were 'phased' didn't fall through the floor and they just stood there gaping like fish. Classic.

The episode 2010 was set and broadcast roughly a decade in Stargate's future. The date of this 'future' episode is now seven years in the past.
