As a European I can only say that Kubrick is a genius. His artistic vision of rural 18th century Europe is incredibly picturesque and most of his shots feel like taken from a painting. No other film in my eyes have ever managed to make me feel like I was really there.
Is there anything that comes close to Barry Lyndon's Europe?
