Any good movies set between 500 and 1200 AD?
Ironclad is great. Set in 1215 though.
Excalibur

What happened in 1200AD?
if you haven't seen the Director's Cut of Kingdom of Heaven then it's definitely a must see for that time period.

Great movie.

Fuck you, I liked it.

>This
Last Kingdom I'd pretty kino. Especially season 2 with the budget increase the pacing is fast as shit though so it's something to get used to.
>>86919918
lmao, yea some blacksmith from bumfuck nowhere can take on 5 knights at the same time. His character was terrible, the writing makes no sense, and the rest of the characters acted like 21st century americans sent back in time. The only redeeming part of the movie is the visuals and the production
>>86919918
This is terrible. Absolutely terrible.
>>86918358
Valhalla rising? kinda got 'mysticism' and such, like its not a straight historical movie. not bad tho.
>>86918443
Excalibur is based on 15th century novel and has 15th century aesthetics. It seems that it was done on purpose too.
>>86921587
by the time this particular crusade happened, there had been an influx of 2nd born sons of noble and well off families flooding into the crusades in hopes of capturing land of their own. They could afford plenty of weapons and armor, and were often trained fairly well, but lacked actual experience.
This would be the normal explanation, however these guys are clearly Templars, which were comparable to modern day marines. So it's pretty embarrassing
>>86925081
even if you give 5 untrained peasants that armor and weapons they would be able to easily kill even any one soldier
>>86918358
Your old ass mom's birth video biiiiiitch
>>86919836
This actually seems pretty decent so far.
>>86923577
>he pacing is fast as shit though so it's something to get used to.
Only compared to American shit like Game of Thrones which plods along as slow as possible to milk as much of its own mileage as it can. More has happened in two seasons of The Last Kingdom than in the entirety of Game of Thrones so far.
Bикинг (2016) a slav viking movie
>>86925483
>Only compared to American shit like Game of Thrones which plods along as slow as possible
The source material isn't exactly fast paced either. GRRM is gonna die before finishing his story.
>>86925483
fast pace usually means skipping character development which is not a good thing, if you're a fucking pleb you wouldn't notice though
Knights of the holy grail
>>86923456
>warrior monks trained for battle from boyhood
>a bunch of hobos and poorfags

You should kill yourself because your knowledge of history is embarrassing.

>>86926614
Yeah, at least the slow paced GoT has increadible character development.
>>86925081
>however these guys are clearly Templars, which were comparable to modern day marines.
Most Templars weren't full brothers though.

kingdom of heaven (director's cut)
robin hood (2010, director's cut)
the war lord
robin and marian
el cid
becket
the lion in winter (original, not the shitty tv remake)
ivanhoe (1952 film; the 1982 and 1997 tv miniseries are kind of bad)

that was such a piece of shit
cute chick, tho
>>86924292
>lmao, yea some blacksmith from bumfuck nowhere can take on 5 knights at the same time
did you miss that he had been involved in war before? "on horseback, and as an enginer also"
when liam neeson first tests him, he compliments him. he was no rookie. you need to watch the director's cut.

not to mention many knights went on crusade to gain experience fighting
like Anthony De Lucy
>be anglo-norman noble
>go to fight with the Teutonic Knights in Lithuania with other English knights
>take part in a single seige at New Kaunas
>either get hit in the chest by a pagan or fall from a ladder during your first assault
>die with no heirs
>>86919918
GOOD NIGHT ALT RIGHT
There is quite simply no good medieval movie because no one can quite capture the motivations, aesthetic feel or the characters of that era. Instead what you get is modern day ators larping in either leather or iron armor with a typical movie saying "x is going to y so z event can happen" and that is history.
The only movies I can excuse are the seventh seal, hard to be a god and Andrey Rublev because they were not only trying to depict medieval times but building up an aesthetic interpretation of it.

or robert de quincy

Holy shit dude, stop playing video games and d&d. "Crusader" isn't a class.
Please, go read any historical account of the crusades.
