We in Munro had a store that used to sell pirated ps2 games. Like a proper store, 5 pesos each game. It lasted about a year, they probably didn't bribe the right officer; it was shut down. I recently watched Kong: Skull Island and Guardians vol. 2 in 4k hdr and other than the fact I don't have a great sound system yet, it was better than the average theater trip.

The whole thing is entirely fucked. They are just some shitbag company demanding that I pay them, but they don't have any authority to do it. They can take me to court and the court can make me pay, but trying to threaten me doesn't do anything. I know people who have paid a large sum just to play it safe, but those people are fucking stupid. Nobody is taking anyone to court unless they have 100% proof and you admit to it. There's only one case around where this kid posted the letter online, didn't blur the details and admitted online he was guilty of torrenting... What a dumbass. Of course he was taken to court and he lost, but that's like the worst case scenario.

Now this shitbag law company has record of me torrenting a torrent from over a year ago in a location I don't live in anymore. How the fuck are they going to prove, that it was me personally (in Finland they have to prove it's you PERSONALLY) downloading that movie? How can they prove there wasn't an open wifi network, or if someone broke into my wifi? Zero chance it will go anywhere, and I haven't heard from them after the second letter.

The market court actually revised their guidelines recently and now ISPs don't have to roll over unless there's proof of substantial infringement, not just a movie or two.
