Is anyone here a fan of The Ladykillers (2004)?

Coen brothers comedies have always been unfairly lambasted by critics when they come out. Big Lebowski was pretty much universally called a disappointment after Fargo, and it's gone on to be their biggest cult hit by a mile.

I am. It is unfairly shitrated just because of the black man. Tom Hanks did a great job.

I'd say it is even a better movie than True Grit, because it acomplishes its puepose of being funny. True grit is just plain boring and tries to be more than what it is

Fuck Lady Killers if you want a good mainstream comedy from the Coens just watch Raising Arizona.

Yeah - I didn't think the film was very funny, and the start was very weak, but Hanks really gives a great performance. It must be one of his most underrated performances, given that everyone looks over this film.
Though The Ladykillers is most certainly not A Serious Man.

I actually loved it. Coen Bros are highly praised but still quite underrated. Really enjoyed when they killed all those ladies. Catched this movie in the theater in 2004 and all of the audience clapped at the end. It's literally and unironically a great film. One of my favorites.
