The fact that most Alien fans dont agree with OP is why i consider the Alien fanbase to be one of the absolute worst out there.
Its like they are all underage, or regress to an underage state of mind when confronted with the total lack of substance in the subsequent films.

Carpenter did write a script for a sequel to The Thing though. Childs and MaCready both survived and were both human, got rescued within a day. A piece of the Thing was recovered and also brought back and it was suppose to take place on some Ship or something.
