it feels like this season is extremely worse than past seasons, it's seriously shit. I'm not here to discuss wether it's good or bad, I'm here just to ask you guys that probably know more than me if they changed the writers or something for this show.

the difference in script quality is fucking huge, all dialogues and some scenes are absolutely laughable.

Here's my little manifesto about the show's quality and the relationship with the books and what not.

When GRRM set out to write this series, he planned on a trilogy. However he decided to extend it to five books because he didn't know exactly how all the characters would get to where they needed to be by the conclusion. Then after writing the first three books (obviously the most well planned out and where his writing had the most direction) he extended it to six books. Then to seven. Now he may extend it to eight.

The last two books in the series, A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons, are overly long and drawn out, and introduce more and more characters who will have probably have little relevance in the final conclusion.

What does that have to do with the show? Well, GRRM was good at writing dialogue between the characters he created, and writing about the political intrigue going on against the backdrop of the White Walkers. So the first three seasons are very good adaptations of such writing with direction. But after that GRRM's writing got considerably worse, and so the showrunners had to make changes for fear of it being cancelled early (it wasn't always as popular as it is now). They couldn't have characters bumbling around for 10 episodes and keep casting new actors to keep up with the expanding plotlines. Readers of the book conveniently forget that the last two books were bad and would have made for bad television, though Season 5 is easily the worst season thus far.

Then after Season 5 they were all caught up. GRRM has written himself into a corner, clearly has no idea how he wants to wrap up the loose ends, and will probably die before he finishes. Theoretically D&D could just do filler waiting for him to finish up, but HBO doesn't want the show to jump the shark, so they decided to cap it at Season 8. Now the showrunners have characters all over the fucking map, and only know their ultimate destination. (1/2)

D&D have never had to write dialogue between the characters before. They have never had to write the political intrigue before. And with so few episodes left to tie things together, all they can do is sprint for the finish line and solely focus on the main conflict, no matter how messy it gets along the way.

The good thing is that, at least, since the show is such a massive cash cow for HBO, they will probably get the budget they need to end it the right way. Chances are the book White Walkers were meant to be defeated in a much more complex way, but the show will probably just have the Night King get killed by Jon Snow, making all the other WWs shatter and the army of the dead collapse. It's time to just cut losses and take it for what it is.

Look on the bright side, if this show never happened, it would have eventually been made into a movie trilogy or something, which would have been much, much worse in my opinion.

George is a slow guy, he was slow to write the first books as well. The book will probably be 1000+ pages, so it's not like he was eating all the time. Also, D&D cut a bunch of things from the books that are already released. There's a ton of material in books 4 and 5 that simply disappeared and could have been good series material. Thankfully book 6 will have nothing to do with the series and I'll be able to forget this crappy season.

As I said in my post, yes, the fat man is a slow fuck. But he has always been a slow fuck and rushing book 6 could be a catastrophe. I think that he made the choice of crafting a good book and sacrifice the series instead of simply accelerating and fucking up the book. The problem is that D&D started to diverge from the source material even before the books were over. They needlesly cut off good chunks of the book that could have been used to milk more episodes(Arianne's plot, Victarion, Jon Cunnington, etc...). If they milked those plots there could be time for the fat fuck to release the new book.
