Basically Nathan gives bizarre business advice to struggling companions in a way that satirises reality TV, consultants, marketing, corporate culture, etc. Nathan plays himself (the show is real but Nathan exaggerates aspects of his personality) but plays up his awkwardness, anxiety, and loneliness. The way people act differently when on camera, the inherent insanity of reality TV and how it plays havoc with social situations, is the real meat of the show. It's very unique, interesting, and hilarious.

I like Breaking Bad, I was watching it since season 2 back in 2009, but it's not the sort of thing I personally love. It's very American TV, planned year by year, sprawling, big setpiece focus. It had a great cast and some great crew (lots of great directors did episodes) but I wasn't a big fan of the writing, and I think they bungled the ending hard by saddling themselves to silly fastforwards they had 0 plan on what to do with. I liked season 4 the best because it had more focus and clarity than most seasons.

Ehh, I gotta agree to disagree there, just personally. Walt's descent from so-called mild-mannered teacher to meth kingpin is his arc sure, and it's the premise of the show. In a film or a novel something can coast by just a premise just fine, because the format demands closure, and that directs writers to clear throughlines and cohesive storylines.
In TV, the premise isn't there to build an arc to get to a conclusion around, it's there to justify continued storytelling. TV, especially American TV on a network like AMC, is there to get good ratings, prestige if it can, and financially justify more and more seasons through more and more popularity. There's no drive to bring the premise to a fitting conclusion, just to keep sprawling and iterating to keep the show going. There was never a plan or sketched out arc for Walt, there were yearly writers meetings to sketch out the story for the year (well sometimes at least, season 3 didn't even really have that) but that's just continuing the show, not planning a story. The premise of "Walt goes from meek teacher to brutal drug kingpin" doesn't beg for a neat arc, you can stretch that out for years and years. That's not cohesive or focused to me. I'm not saying that's bad. But the whole format of American television rewards not being cohesive or focused, it rewards being able to stretch out a premise indefinitely, not tell a cohesive story. Especially for plot-heavy shows like BB.
