I m o it can't really have an ending. Well it can, but not a set one, it can have hundreds of individual endings people can choose (there's an anon here with rare but persuasive arguments for Death Comes to Time as a great ending for Doctor Who).

The Curator is there as an ending if you'd like too (if I had to choose an ending, that'd be the one I choose, the idea of the Doctor retiring and enjoying his time and gaining self awareness that he's fiction - ties in the Tom Baker Shada narration too - appeals to me a lot)

Would anyone be interested in an older set in their ways companion who initially dislikes the doctor personality and for whatever contrived reason finds themselves swept up in some madness where the doctor appears from their pov the eye of the storm, and is inadvertantly and reluctanly forced to travel with the doctor, they want to go home, even after seeing some bizarre places/people/situations, but eventually warms to the doctor and come to realize that the universe is much bigger than just their planet, and begins to appreciate life.
