When I saw DN live action fresh, I was in an arguement with my friends. They all love anime and manga and one of them insisted that was all that Japan was good for. I disagreed with him saying that Japan had and still has good movies independent from anime. Back then I fought DN live action like cancer.

Years later I am still promoting Japanese movies on /tv/ but now the DN live action I once hated so much has became another movie I try to promote

The Jap movies weren't even that bad desu. Not fantastic but a solid 5/10.

What she didn't know is that when she encountered Light the first time is that he noticed she had wedding invitations on her, so what he did was check local churches and finds out her real name from the register.

Using that knowledge he forces a situation where Naomi takes his girlfriend hostage while accusing Light of being Kira, at which point the gun goes off killing Light's GF, Naomi horrified at what has happened then turns the gun on herself, this sequence of events somewhat removing any suspicion from Light himself as well as giving him a reason to be on the Investigation team to catch his GF's killer.

I couldn't stand what they did to the name and concept. They made this cartoony bullshit with powerlevels, and making the school look like something out of a gag manga, whne the actual manga was always grounded completely in reality. They could have easily made the movie out to be closer to reality and down to earth like a yakuza movie without someone comically kicking a cgi water tower. Even the fight scenes and choreography were completely unimpressive. It's sad to have seen Hiroshi completely sell out a god tier series like Crows and Worst, and we will never get anything like Bouya Harumichi.

Not really, no. Ryuk worked in the original because everything was animated. Thus putting some weird death god into it didn't look bad: the entire thing was already unrealistic. In both of these they try to put a non-humanoid supernatural animated character into otherwise completely live action, which will always seem weird. Personally I just think you'll never get a good Ryuk in an adaptation since it will never mesh with real life.

That's true since its almost impossible to turn anime or cartoons into a good live action adaptation. The stories, plot and action of animated films make sense BECAUSE they're animated and the producers can go all out with their imagination.
