each book can stand alone for casual readers but the overarching plot is uhtreds life which runs through all the books. if you prefer a few hundred pages of well paced story with a clear resolution then the saxon stories are for you. if you prefer 5000 pages of meticulously describing a meandering plot from each and every characters perspective with no clear direction or ending then stick with GOT.

It's pretty good, but still too much retarded shit to force the plot. Characters are always doing dumb shit, mostly Uthred and the King of Wesex. Still better than Vikings though.
