Is he actually evil, or just true neutral? I mean, how is he in any way different from Dany or Cersei in desiring conquest and power? They both lead armies to kill people and conquer, the difference is that the Night King actually brings people back from the dead, into his own plane of living.

We are supposed to empathize with the human race and want to preserve ourselves. But true logic dictates that he is no better or worse than other conquerors. He's just a different species and so that's why he's (supposed to be) bad. As far as I can tell his subjects don't suffer under his rule, If they really are subjects at all. Probably just all one singular entity with the night king at the helm. The only way I could consider him the "bad guy" is if the souls of the dead can't move on to their respective gods until they are released.
