I thought the idea of a motorized machine gun was weak as fuck. Aside from that I thought it was all relatively well done. Still, somehow I don't get the feeling the series is going to hold up well. It will be a required viewing for any serious fan of television, but it will lose a bit of luster.

The whole thing with the machine gun was a reference to Scarface. The original idea Vince Gilligan had was turning Mr. Rogers into Scarface. The gun is literally the exact same gun that Tony uses against the people invading his house at the end of Scarface. They threw it in there because they had to end with Heisenberg becoming "Scarface." That's it.
