Season 3 is extremely weird. I was really looking forward to the Return as I think Twin Peaks (season 1 and 2) is one of the best TV shows ever. I have watched most of Lynch's famous work, including Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, Eraserhead, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, the Twin Peaks movies, as well as Inland Empire. He makes special movies and some are better than others, but season 3 is so undescribably bad that I don't even know what to say. It seems to be either or when people review this season. Some say it's fantastic and some think it's so bad that they wonder if Lynch took (or forgot) his medicine when he wrote, produced and directed this season of Twin Peaks.

I could stand 3-4 episodes, then I quit. There is no logic or linear plot to follow and everything is completely irrational. No one could come up with something as weird as this season of Twin Peaks without being out of his mind. Lynch is special and I like his earlier work but season 3 of Twin Peaks could be among the worst things I've seen on television. Does it get better after a few episodes or what? I've seen the first 3-4 but I feel like I must be on drugs to actually make it through this shit if it is as bad as the first episodes.

As for everything else, you are operating in the wrong mode of viewing. This series is hypnotic, patient, epic poetry where each scene is its own strange world. You watch it to be immersed into this universe as the pieces slowly fall into place. If you sit around waiting for big, normal narrative thrills, you're going to be closed off to the far more interesting little details.

Nobody hates Dale, but the impatient Dougie haters are dumb, people being unable to accept it and see it as nothing but a carrot being dangled in front of them, waiting every scene for it to end. This is why I dislike people dissecting the show, as if there's a hidden purpose behind everything. It's the same thing as that "glitch" in the Big Ed scene, that obviously was edited to fit another car driving by in the scene, not some meta-physical foreshadowing nonsense. I mean jesus.

and this scene is masterful in sound design, the squeaky voice playing over it is reminiscent of the screeching we heard from The Jumping Man in the original. People only take away from it when they do this shit, Lynch took some left in audio of him directing the guy and turned it into a cool thing for the scene, now fans are taking that and making it not cool or interesting.
