I've worked with a lot of great accompanists throughout my solo career, and this is just my opinion: genius without accessibility is wasted. When working with other people, your talent is only worth as much as your ability to collaborate. Abusive teachers are useless because there are tons of great teachers out there as alternatives.

It's not real life though. Nobody wants to see real life in a movie. It's like if karate kid didn't want to paint fences and went to the gym instead. In the movie setting this teacher is one of a kind and the boy sees him as such. This trope is probably older than you, and the only reason for your criticism is that you want to show off your personal experience in music. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this film.

Sure I agree, but what makes for a good movie is also a bad reality. Sometimes I worry that other anons will set themselves up for abuse IRL because they don't know any better, so I was just giving my two cents.
