chinese actor starts to lose fame, gets into drugs and becomes increasingly depressed. whole movie is basically him struggling with it and his family trying to intervene. good movie, especially if you like slower paced without much dialogue.

also based on real life with the actor playing himself. side note too, the dude just recently committed suicide several years ago so it's as depression kino as you can get
>>
>>86752415
I don't like how this movie is getting popular because dumbasses think its relevant
>>
>>86752718
To be fair, I chose it for an example because my 4th grade teacher made us watch it. Is it really getting popular again?
>>
>>86752415
What is wrong with the British and their fucking depressing animated movies.

Plague Dogs still gets me, I can't rewatch it.

It was practically a comedy - entirely predictable in every aspect.

Is Nocturnal Animals sad? If not should I watch Pans Labyrinth or Dear Zachary

The Road is pretty interesting in terms of prose, there's few commas, instead there's a lot of use of "and"

I feel it makes the writing much more visual

Requiem for a Dream starts out slightly depressing but with some hope for the future, then shoots into full on manic depression.
>>
>>86755222
only movies that made me "really think" are human condition and stalker, both those movies are a hallmark of story telling in cinema, everything else (for the most part excluding things like : come and see, hard to be a god(which should be on there)is just tear jerk movie making not on the same scale or thinking involved, and is just another movie you see for the sake of seeing

As depressing as it is, I can always find enough moments of dark comedy to justify watching it again.

Seen it over 50 times, shown to over 50 people, all of them loved it.

Depression kino of the highest form
>>
I watched a lot of depressing kino but so far only Dancer in the Dark has been able to make me cry and feel sorry for someone rather than myself.

One of my favorite movies of all time. It's so fucking good. Depressing but also hysterically angry as well.

>>86755222
Millennium Actress is sad (and very beautiful) but I wouldn't call it depressing, you might be crying when the credits roll but you're not gonna want to jump infront of a train or anything.
They Shoot Horses, Don't They? is another favorite and that will probably make you question if being alive is such a good thing.

There was a movie I saw as a kid that I am interesting on seeing if I can find. It had a scene that was very grey and some young long hair man shot a deer dead and then cried. I guess he felt guilty cause after there was scenes of him being haunted by deers. Does anyone know what movie this might be?
