Too little Aunt May.
Too little emotion and ambition to push it past feeling like a safe silly Disney cartoon Spider Man.
Also, attempting Iron Man as a "father figure" and centering the whole plot on impressing and being a wannabe Aveneger robs it really hard of developing its own characters.

Basically the robo spiderman suit is a big mess they'll probably have to write around and the "MJ" reveal/joke is empty to a point of being embarrassing.

I mean, Ned is the friend that gets the most screen time and nothing fucking happens to him.
