I don't know but this movie is a fucking meme. It has zero plot and is boring as hell. The only reason it was cool back in the day was because of the cool effects but for some reason people have memed it into being great even today, which it unfortunately is not.

The story to 2001 is very good, dunno what you mean about no plot. There's plenty of plot, a lot of it is just told visually without having to spell it out for the viewer.
