Just because the USSR suffered heavy casualties doesn't mean they didn't do the lion's share of the work when it came to defeating Germany. I agree that casualties doesn't equal effort/contribution (look how many men China lost fighting Japan and how little they were able to accomplish), but in this case the Soviets did most of the work fighting the Germans and it's stupid to dismiss that because a lot of them died in the process.

The Soviets really couldn't have won without aid from the US. They simply didn't have the means to transport troops. The Soviets killed most of their own population with idiotic tactics like refusing to evac cities so soldiers would fight harder. The Russians would likely had to surrender if the US didn't bring food, too.
