This sucked

The fights were shit, the villains were stupid and ineffective, the main characters were dour and bitchy, and it constantly felt like the writer and director hated having to do anything even remotely fun or silly.

Why do superheroes have to be grim? I get that these are street-level heroes, so there's going to be less whimsy, but do they have to be fucking soap opera crying the entire duration?

Fucking kek, most accurate sentence I've read all morning. I think I finally understand where Luke Cage was coming from when he called him a privileged white kid. I agree, the show tried way too hard to keep a straight, angry face in spite of the inherent goofiness and stupidity of the villains and some of the fights. The few jokes were all delivered through gritted teeth like the actors were cringing internally at having to say them and actually enjoy being around each other yet apparently none of the other ridiculous shit they talk about is too much to take seriously. And the fight choreography filmography was really weak across the board compared to Daredevil seasons 1 and 2 and even parts of Iron Fist

I didn't mind any of the Iron Fist stuff in the Defenders. His plot and motivations are the only ones that I found remotely interesting in a pretty weak show.
