My little brother really wanted to see the third Pokemon movie. I considered myself a kid that had outgrown the sort of kiddie tv show that had a neat moral lesson every 20 minutes. I eventually went with my brother, but not without putting on airs of superiority over the film.
In spite of this, I was pretty engrossed. It was a pretty fun adventure film.
Learned a lesson about giving things a chance and not pretending I was above them without knowing what they were.
I have since forgotten that lesson now that I have /tv/ to tell me what to think.

Quite the opposite for me, my Dad made me feel ashamed to see kids movies when I was a fucking kid.

I'm ashamed to see anything even remotely kid-oriented in movies because of my Dad. He's the kind of guy who would make you feel ashamed for enjoying something, in fact both of my parents are and still do it.

I remember seeing Finding Nemo when I was like 10 and he mentioned not even hours later about him falling asleep during it and he pretty well hates most if not all animated movies. He couldn't even make the effort to pretend when I was fucking 10.

Like I said both of my parents are casually judgmental as all hell when it comes to taste in movies, tv shows or any media and it's part of the reason why my sister and I are so secretive about what we like (For example you say you like something and then they go "Oh it's fucking terrible" and go on about it when I was a child and early teen). It also shaped me into a cynical bastard as most people were convinced that I didn't like any movie at all.

If you want good Pokemon films, it's the first one, second one, third one, fifth one (especially Kino) and the darkrai one (I think it's the tenth one).

First one is a legitimately good film, but only with the restored Japanese cut and subtitles. The dub changed the script too much and created multiple plot holes. Second film, the Lugia one, is a fine action adventure. Third one (Entei & Unown) is a slow burning character focused story. It also has the best charizard battle out of the whole series. Fourth one (Celebi) is utter trash. Fifth one (Latios & Latias) has a bad story, but visuals, music and the character focus uplift it to the level of kino.

Jirachi (6th one) has some good character moments, especially in the first half, but the plot and pacing are terrible and there's no payoff. Not recommended at all. Seventh film (Destiny Deoxis) is mediocre. You might like it, but this is not a recommendation. Lucario (8th film) is a complete trainwreck. I'd recommend it to degenerates who cream themselves over that pokemon, but over this film, I'd recommend them to get help instead. The 9th filme, Manaphy, is legitimately good.

The Rise of Darkrai, the 10th film, is probably the best out of the standard action films. I definitely recommend 1st, 3rd and 5th movies for being interesting tales. But out of all the rest, I'd recommend Darkrai as the best flick. The next, 11th film, Giratina, has some cool elements, but it's pretty bad. 12th film, Arceus, is mediocre, a bit better than Deoxis film. Zoroark film, the 12th one is watchable and just like Lucario film, is made as a marketing for the "dankest" of the new pokemon. Pretty forgettable, but not too insulting.

Black and White films can be neat if you haven't seen any other Pokemon films, but are generally a ripoff of basically everything done before. Not recommended. 15th Kyurem film is legendarily bad. There's a reason it's called pony cancer. Genesect film is utterly terrible, no better, but even more insulting to the fan than the previous one.

With so many terrible films lining up in the last few years, Diancine film can be seen as a good one, but only because we've been fucked hard recently. Hoopa feels like a retread in terms of plot structure, art and many themes of the Diancine film, only worse. Not recommended. The most recent one, Volcanion film, is basically another derivative entry that feels like bad parts of the last two plus some of its own new bad elements. Avoid as well.

Literally everything except the character of Lucario. It drags on with a stupid first act that goes thru the motions and Ash being the chosen one. Final act that makes no sense and full of plot holes and contrivances. I'm not even nitpicking.
For example, Ash legitimately goes on a camping adventure and besides the road not even a day away from the city find a flower that blossomed for hundreds of years containing memories of Lucario's master that nobody picked up before. Then they go on a mountain which has a magical immune system against humans because it's a living being itself. There's some good 15 minutes half way in, but it doesn't last.

Yeah, I'd love a reboot now. Not just because CGI or anything, the CGI was fine, but because it was clearly butchered for Hollywood or whatever.
They cut out crucial details that are necessary plot points in the proceeding books. Eragon casting was trash, Irons and Malkovich were good though. And it was clearly rushed to try and fit the entire book into one movie.

Malkovich was awful, Irons was 100% perfect choice just needed a beard like from the book. I really enjoyed the books, and would love to see a decent remake as well. They truly just fucked that whole series over so hard. Even Ajihad dude wasn't too poorly cast as he had the look that I recall described in the book.

The part that got me the most was Saphira. Holy shit that pissed me off.
