Poor character development. Didn't care about the racoon as much as I did in the first one/ When Yondu died and he said something like "Ego was your father, but I was your daddy!" or some shit I almost laughed, the poignancy fell totally flat given how little development Yondu had and that he was in the first movie just to harass Starlord for a bit, then leave. Villain was also pretty empty.

Awful use of humor. First movie had tight pacing and plotting with jokes as the side dish, but still relating to the overall plot and situation. Now we have 10 minute scene of Racoon saying "lol, your name is taserface! haha!". Why? Adds nothing, wasn't that funny

Poor pacing. Lots of scenes were randomly stretched out or put in, there was no sense of engagement. Like, the badass™ scene where Yondu kills people with the arrow felt extremely "undeserved", if you know what I mean. A climax out of nothing.

Nice colours though. Honestly so much worse than GoTG 1

I read the outline of the plot on /tv/ when the film came out in theatres, so I knew what it was about before I watched it earlier in the week, and I was genuinely dumbfounded when Ego had turned up, told Quill he was his father and was inviting them to the planet, all less than a quarter of the way through the film.
From what I could tell that seemed like the majority of what I though would be the second act, had been condensed in to like a ten minute scene

Nothing. The original had a great tone to it but it was hampered by the STOP THE INFINITY STONE FROM FALLING INTO THE WRONG HANDS MacGuffin plot that every Marvel film was doing then. This one kept the tone that made the first great while having a more unique plot.
